Learn how to adapt your dynamic creativities to Meta's 9:16 placements
Adapting your visuals to 9:16 format can significantly enhance the effectiveness of your Meta campaigns, providing a seamless experience in Stories and Reels by eliminating issues related to cropping and ensuring better alignment of design elements.
Implementing this adjustment not only improves the visual appearance but also optimizes campaign performance. According to Meta, using 9:16 layouts can lead to a +26% increase in CTR on Instagram Stories, as well as improvements across placements such as Instagram Stories, Facebook Stories, Instagram Reels, and Facebook Reels.
Follow these steps to create a 9:16 design in AMP and use it in dynamic Meta campaigns:
- Access Creatives and select your layout. Ensure that the initial design is in a 1:1 format.
- Next, add the 9:16 design using the Multipage tool. Locate the Multipage menu around the layout's design. Click the plus button to add a new page to your design or duplicate the existing one.
- Use the MiniMap to navigate. Once the new page is added, a MiniMap will appear on the right side of Creatives. This will show which page/layout you're working on, the size, and if it'll be used for feeds (the board icon will be highlighted).
- Next, resize the page to 9:16 format. On the left menu, select the resize tab and change the page dimensions to 1080 x 1920 px (Stories/Snapchat format). A pop-up will notify you that the design is ready for Meta, and the board icon will be activated.
- Next, use the elements tab in the left-side menu to make final adjustments to the design.
- Move to Feeds to apply the layouts. Once the design with the two pages is created, go to Feeds > Optimized Feeds and select the layout transformation when creating an optimization. A ''multilayout'' blue icon will be displayed next to your multipage design for easy identification.
- Verify that the layouts are correctly applied to the products. When previewing the images, ensure that a main image link in 1:1 format and an additional image link in 9:16 format are displayed. To check this in AMP, go to Optimized Feed > Preview. In Meta, navigate to Catalog > Items > Media.
- Activate the 9:16 placement in Meta campaigns. After the information is updated and uploaded to Meta, finish the process by activating the 9:16 placement in the campaign settings. Go to Ads > Advantage+ Creative > and click on edit. Activate the Adapt to Placement tab and click on save.
As a best practice, deselect the Display showcase card checkbox to avoid displaying product in card format and only showcasing your 9:16 dynamic layout
