Sync your catalog with Google Merchant in real time, with no daily limits or scheduling needed
Google Merchant Instant Upload feature allows you to connect your product feeds directly to your Google Merchant account via API. This means that once AMP has processed the feed, any updates are instantly reflected on the Google platform.
This functionality was developed to address the need for more frequent catalog updates. By default, Google Merchant only supports a maximum update frequency of one update per day, which can be limiting for catalogs with high stock rotation or time-sensitive campaigns. With this integration, product information is synchronized in real time, without the need to schedule or configure anything manually in Google Merchant.
How does it work
When creating a catalog in Optimized Feeds section and selecting the Google Merchant channel, you'll be able to link it via API through the Google Merchant account tab. Once your account is connected, the feed will be automatically created in your GMC under the Data Sources section.
How to activate it
To get it up and running, you need to link your Google Merchant with AMP. To do this, follow these steps:
- When creating an Optimized Feed for Google Merchant channel, click on CONNECT. A pop-up will appear to let you register your Google account:
- Next, sign in with your Google account and grant all necessary permissions. Accept all accesses and click continue:
- Once you've done this, your Google Merchant accounts will be linked to AMP. Select the corresponding Google Merchant ID and click CONNECT again:
That’s it! Your API connection is now active. The feed will be automatically published in Google Merchant Center using the same name it has in AMP. Any changes made in AMP will be automatically reflected in GMC.
Check for updates
To confirm that the feed has been successfully updated, check the Last Update time in Google Merchant under Data Sources > Primary Feed:
Additionally, within AMP, you can verify that the feed has been correctly read by Google Merchant by checking two indicators:
- The plug icon should be active (blue)
- Last Read time should match the update time shown in Google Merchant (with just a few minutes difference).
