Product Level Video in Meta
Unlock the Power of Product Level Videos on Facebook and Instagram
Product Level Videos, also known as Dynamic Media or PLV, are a game-changer for advertisers aiming to elevate their sales campaigns. By uploading video assets into their catalog at the product level, this solution enables advertisers to stand out amidst the advertising noise, significantly capturing audience attention.
From showcasing brand-oriented website videos to user-generated content or product-centric videos, the possibilities are limitless. According to an A/B test ran by Meta, video feature showed a 41% increase in return on ad spend and a 45% decrese in cost per purchase.
The process of setting up a catalog for Product Level Video is pretty similar to setting up a catalog for Dynamic Catalog Ads. There are two ways you can add product videos to your catalog:
Once you have these video assets in your catalog, learn how to activate this feature in Meta.
Adding video from your ecommerce
Meta will display either product images or videos to users based on what they’re more likely to engage with, helping to optimize ad performance. If you already have product videos available in your data source, you can start using them in your catalog ads right away by adding them to your AMP catalog as outlined below:
- First, ensure that some of your products in your data source (ecommerce) have a video asset in URL format. While MP4 format is preferable, other acceptable formats include 3g2, .3gp, .3gpp, .asf, .avi, .dat, .divx, .dv, .f4v, .flv, .gif, .m2ts, .m4v, .mkv, .mod, .mov, .mpe, .mpeg, .mpeg4, .mpg, .mts, .nsv, .ogm, .ogv, .qt, .tod, .ts, .vob and .wmv; with a maximum file size of 200MB.
Some Meta's best practices include:- Test with a few top-performing products to gauge impact.
- Capture attention in the first 2 seconds.
- Use full ad space to increase visibility and engagement.
- Make vertical videos with sound, staying within safe zones.
- Try different video formats.
- Next, add this information to AMP. Edit your Data Import and access the Mapping section. Click on the New Field blue icon to create a new field named video[0].url. Next, dynamically match this new field with your the field from your ecommerce and click on Create. This new field will be added at the bottom of the list.

- If you have more than one video available per product, you can map them using additional fields following the same structure. AMP supports up to 20 videos per product, which can be assigned to the following fields: video[1].url, video[2].url... hasta video[19].url.
- Save your changes and manually update your Data Import. Click on the Preview Icon 👁️to review your recently added field video[0].url.
- Next, create an Optimized Feed and enhance your catalog by applying optimizations.
- When your catalog is ready, follow these steps to activate this feature in Meta.
Adding videos from Creatives
Whether you want to integrate your product videos into a high-impact layout alongside other dynamic elements such as product images, prices or labels; or use video assets to enhance your creative composition, you’ll need to leverage our Creatives tool.
Please note that free version of adding videos from Creatives is available for catalogs with up to 50 products. If you’d like to increase this limit, please contact our Customer Success team.
Dynamic Videos
- To add product videos from your catalog into a design, make sure your video assets are mapped under video field in the Mapping section of Data Import.

- Next, go to Creatives > Video > Dynamic Video tab, on the left-hand menu. Click the blue icon Add Product Video to add the video placeholder into the design. This placeholder will dynamically pull the video asset from your catalog.

- Once added, adjust the placeholder’s aspect ratio from the same Video panel to optimize video display. You can also edit video properties, such as enabling sound, from the properties menu that appears when clicking on the placeholder.

- Add any additional elements to complete your design, such as brand assets, dynamic tags or product images.
-
After finishing the design, you can create multiple format versions (such as 1:1, 4:5 and 9:16) for different placements. To do this, add new pages using the options located above the canvas and then adjust the format from the Resize tab.

-
Once your design is ready, apply it to your product set through an Optimization.
-
After the catalog has been processed, you’ll see the videos populated in the corresponding fields (video[0].url, video[1].url,...) in your catalog.
-
Finally, enable the Dynamic Media toggle in Meta. Your catalog will then be ready to be activated in campaigns.
Static Videos
Static Videos are ideal when you want to include brand videos, generic content or any other audiovisual elements that enhance your creative design. These videos don’t change dynamically with the product but can help make your layouts more engaging and visually appealing.
- To add static videos, go to the Video > Media tab. From here, you can drag and drop your videos directly into your design. Make sure your videos are in mp4 format, maximum file size 100MB and have a duration of 15-20 seconds.

- You can also access our free media library via Elements > Video to find ready-to-use video assets that can complement your creative compositions.

- Edit the video duration and audio volume using the Trim & Sound buttons in the top menu. By default, the video is set to mute (volume = 0), to enable sound, please adjust this setting.

- Next, complete your design by adding your product images and mix it with any static and dynamic elements like your logos, prices or labels using the Layers tab.
- After finishing the design, you can create multiple format versions (such as 1:1, 4:5 and 9:16) for different placements.

Activate Dynamic Media in Meta
Once the Optimized Feeds display the video content and you have set up your catalog in Meta, follow these instructions when creating a campaign to activate it:
- Navigate to the ad level section and click on Ad creative > Product Media.

- Make sure Dynamic Media check box is enabled.

- If you want to prioritize showing the video whenever possible, enable the Prioritize Video option. This functionality is only available for the Single Image or Video format.

Once you've completed these steps, you'll be ready to start testing Product Level Video. We recommend running an A/B test comparing a campaign with an image-only catalog to another campaign with a catalog that includes both images and videos to evaluate performance differences.
Implementing dynamic videos on Meta can significantly enhance your marketing strategy. Take advantage of this feature and observe the impact it can have on your campaign’s performance.
